Unfortunately or fortunately we do not ask for it but it is required by Greek law!
Any property rented out to third parties through Airbnb, Booking or other platforms in the context of short term rentals, is required to submit a visitor's residence declaration according to the law.
For the residence declaration to the competent short-term rental/residence register of the IAPR*, the guest's Passport Number is required and only this as an element for not Greek nationals.
If you have rented accommodation in a previous period of time and the manager or the owner did not ask for your Passport Number number, then the latter did not make a residence declaration or made it with incorrect information, which entails legal and tax penalties for the contracting parties during the control by the competent authority.
